Turn in the road

Pull up :safe legal and convenient
Prepare feet and gear (observe gradient and camber)
Observe 360
Release Handbrake (stay still)
Move

  1. Drive forward an inch LOOK RIGHT –  STEER RIGHT BRISKLY
  2. ¾ of way over (when wing mirror is leveling with the  kerb) STEER LEFT 3 TURNS – prepare to BRAKE  STOP (wheels straight)
  3. Handbrake neutral then POM (before you move release handbrake keep FEET STILL HOLD BITE )
  4. 2 hands on wheel LOOK LEFT SHOULDER – STEER FULL LEFT BRISKLY
  5. ½ of the way over LOOK RIGHT SHOULDER – STEER RIGHT 3 TURNS. Prepare to BRAKE (watch kerb meet front door pointer) (wheels straight). Handbrake Neutral.
  6. POM (before you move release handbrake keep FEET STILL HOLD BITE )
  7. DO NOT FORGET MIDDLE BACK LEFT SHOULDER OBSERVATIONS
  8. PULL UP Handbrake and Neutral wait till told to drive on
  9. DO NOT FORGET BLINDSPOT

 

 

REVERSE 90

You will b e asked to pull up before the corner that you are expected to reverse around take a good look at the shape assess: sweepy or 90 or a bit of both !!. as you drive off to pass look into the street make sure no cars in your way if there is say so if not pull up a GRATE away from the kerb.

Prepare feet and gear (quickly into reverse)
Observe 360
Release Handbrake
Move

  1. LOOK LEFT SHOULDER to REF POINT 1  – looking out of backside window. LOOK FOR L SHAPE FORM WITH THE BACKSIDE WINDOW AND THE PATH
  2. STEER FULL LOCK( IN ) THEN at 1PM : STOP AND LOOK RLR also check side mirror (do any correction here)
  3. Look to the back window for the kerb edge to sit in line with  THE HEADREST
  4. CHECK that front of the car is straight THEN keep car SLOW and STEER RIGHT 3 TURNS OUT to straighten the wheel (AIRBAG DOWN) parallel with the kerb
  5. Reverse back stop when clear and safe from the junction.
  6. Handbrake and Neutral wait till told to drive on
  7. POM
  8. DO NOT FORGET MIDDLE BACK LEFT SHOULDER OBSERVATIONS

 

 

SWEEPING

Prepare feet and gear (quickly into reverse)
Observe 360
Release Handbrake
Move

  1. LOOK LEFT SHOULDER to REF – looking out of backside window watch for any part of the corner to go round check the side mirror for the last kerb stone before it starts to go round to be level with under the wing mirror
  2. STEER BRISKLY LEFT ( IN ) ½ A TURN SO AIRBAG IS UPSIDE DOWN
  3. At 1PM : STOP AND LOOK RLR also check side mirror (do any correction here) should be able to see a grate from the kerb.
  4. continue back without turning the wheel count to 3 and look for the car to be inside the new road at this point check the side mirror and back side window for the road to be disappearing
  5. Then TURN IN as required looking to the back window
  6. LOOK to the back window for the kerb edge to sit in line with the headrest and watch for the car to straighten
  7. THEN keep car SLOW and STEER RIGHT 3 TURNS OUT to straighten the wheel (AIRBAG DOWN) parallel with the kerb
  8. Reverse back stop when clear and safe from the junction.
  9. Handbrake and Neutral wait till told to drive on
  10. POM
  11. DO NOT FORGET BLINDSPOT

 

 

Parallel Park

  • You will be asked to pull up before the car that you are to carry out the manoeuvre on.

  • POM (prepare observe move) into position about a grate from the car and far enough forward that ref 1 is not in sight
  • Prepare feet and gear (quickly into reverse)
  • Observe 360
  • Release Handbrake
  • Move
  • LOOK LEFT SHOULDER to REF 1 when the end /front of the other car is JUST IN the back side door window
  • STEER BRISKLY LEFT ( IN ) FULL LOCK
  • COUNT TO 3 THEN TURN OUT 3 PULLS TO THE RIGHT STOP
  • STOP AND LOOK RLR also check side mirror (do any correction here) wing mirror should be levelish with the end of the car
  • LOOK for wheel arch in side mirror to sit on the pavement then MOVE SLOW – TURN OUT FULL LOCK – (make sure you are looking out of backside window
  • STOP when parallel –  NO NEED to straighten wheel
  • Handbrake and Neutral wait till told to drive on
  • POM
  • DO NOT FORGET BLINDSPOT
