How to Pick the Right Driving Instructor for You

There are about 35,000 driving instructors in the U.K. It is however still dominated by the guys but we are here to give them a race. The growing number of female instructors is rising. Think carefully before you commit yourself to driving lessons - you want to ensure you are getting the best quality training so that you have the best possible chance of success. If you do find a bad instructor you could end up spending more and taking more lessons than are needed. Only instructors approved by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) are allowed charge for giving driving tuition - you can check an instructors' status by asking to see their identification certificate which should be displayed in the tuition vehicle windscreen when the driving instructor is giving lessons.

There you will find lots of independent driving instructors and schools advertising their business. The average price for lessons that you should expect to pay for a good driving instructor is £20 - £25 per lesson. However it should be noted that another of the best ways to choose a driving instructor is by having one recommended so ask around I'm sure our name will come up, as often the most popular instructors are those that don't need to do excessive advertising.

What Should You Look For In Your Driving Instructor?

The majority of instructors you find will be good with many years of experience and follow a set DSA code of conduct to ensure that the instructor carries out their business in the correct professional manner. Any instructor that does not should be reported to the DSA. We follow this code of practice; there will always be some schools or instructors who run an unprofessional service. Two very important factors when looking is that you ensure that “The instructor is familiar with your area,

• Is approachable and easy to get along with
• Has the relevant licence to teach
• Has a space that you can take each week
• Has a sense of humour

Once You Have Found Your Instructor

Once you have chosen your school and have undertaken your 1st lesson consider the following

• On your 1st lesson did your instructor put you at ease straight away and did you feel that she was in control?
• Did you do any driving in your 1st lesson?
• Does your instructor act in a professional manner? Will I have the same instructor for every lesson?
• Is the car clean and tidy with dual controls fitted?
• Do you have to pay for lessons in advance?
• Do they offer discounts for block lessons?
• Do you have to have a minimum of 2 lessons a week?
• Do you get help for the theory test?

If you can answer yes to most of the above questions then you have chosen well. When you take lessons from us you can be assured that YES is us.

Not Enough Female Drivng Instructors

There is still a great demand for more female driving instructors to be trained. The reasons why some pupils struggle to find a female instructor is that unlike the Male instructor’s women tend to work round their families thus the more availability and flexibility you have the more chance you have of getting a slot that suits you. Where possible you are asked to remain in the same slot weekly however we do understand that this cannot always be the case.
