Driving Theory Test
The theory test was introduced in 1996. It is designed to improve safety of new drivers on the road today. Making sure that everyone fully understands the rules and regulations of the road, if there were no rules the roads would be a disaster!! It is important that drivers pick up and read the Highway Code regularly as new rulings do get added.
WHEN SHOULD I TAKE MY THEORY TEST?
As soon as you receive your provisional driving license and even before driving lessons have started there is no reason why you can not study and get through the test straight away. Having learnt all the rules and regulations of the road before your practical driving will definitely help you progress quicker with your driving lessons. Remember this theory test must be passed before you can book your practical driving test.
SO ARE YOU READY?
You will have been doing some pre work, both with your instructor and by yourself. Your instructor is particularly useful for teaching Hazard Perception (HPT), and can help with all elements of the theory - The Laugh 'n' Pass Instructors offer either theory class in the car or they are prepared to come to your home computer and study with you, this is general charged at the cost of your practical driving lesson. Just ask your instructor for more information. There are lots of online sites for both the theory and hazard perception practice so there should be no excuse.
It very important not to skimp on the learning of the theory for the sake of just getting through the theory test. Ensure that you take the information on board as you will be using it within your practical driving. Speak with your driving instructor and ask if they think you're ready.
There are books that can help you with your theory
